1st Year Anniversary

I am completely spoiled! My sweet husband loves to spoil me every chance he can possibly get!  He loves surprising me and getting me gifts.  Today marked our first year anniversary and you can bet he did just that. He wanted the day to be perfect, and it was more than I ever could have asked for.  It was more than perfect!  I loved every minute of it.  It started off with breakfast at Grandma's feather bed then led to a surprise kayaking adventure around the glacier! All followed by a beautiful Salmon bake for dinner.  It was picture perfect... except it was more perfect than any picture that I will EVER take!

  These are some pictures from the Salmon Bake.  Fresh Sockeye Salmon, all you can eat, with other goodies and lots of activities.  It was like we had stepped into a little magical theme park without the rides.  It actually kinda reminded me of Rattle Snake Rapids at Lagoon.  There was a guitar player, campfire, all you can eat Salmon, Waterfall, Gold panning and so much more! This has got to be one of my favorite places that I have been here in Juneau.

I went into the kitchen to see my sweet husband making pina coladas! Just like in Puerto Rico, he said.  It was THE BEST Pina Colada that I have ever had!

Our original cake topper is still in Utah in our freezer... sssooo I decided to try to make my own.  I have a new found respect for my sister! It turned out nothing like our original and didn't even taste close to hers! But... It worked :)

Two Years Ago, One Year Ago, and Today

Two years ago today this is where I was and what I was doing...

                 Puerto Rico Vacation to see my aunt/uncle/and cousins with my sis Brittany.  One of the most fun vacations that I have ever been on.  It was great to have some one on one time with my big sister and experience a new place with her. This vacation will always hold a special place in my heart.

A year ago today...

      You guessed it,,, chances are you were even a part of it! A year ago today is when I married my best friend.  Hands down THE best decision I have ever made.  Then off to a Honeymoon in my favorite tropical place... Puerto Rico a second time!! It was a complete blast! I was able to give Kody a taste of Brittany and I's adventure but we stayed in a different place and had different experiences that made it new and exciting.  I could not have drempt a more perfect vacation!

And today...

     Our first year anniversary could not have gone more perfectly! Such a completely wonderful day in Alaska.  Who new two years ago I'd be standing here, experiencing this with my best friend.  (More pictures to come).

The Sky in Juneau

More sky pictures! The weather has been SO beautiful lately that it creates such a gorgeous view especially in the sky.  It is just too beautiful for words ... sooo ladies and gentlemen, without further ado... here is a little taste for you.

This first one is for my papa, he wanted to know what Juneau was like on summer solstice.  This picture was taken around 9 or 10 in the evening.  This time of year the sun does not set until about 11 pm and then it rises around 3 am.  It is AWESOME! This is one thing I will definitely miss.  

  

My dream world

There is something you should know about me... I love sunsets! I used to love growing up when the sun wouldn't set until 9 or so and I'd get a quick glimpse of a sunset.  My world is forever changed! The first time I witnessed a sunset here in Alaska I wanted to just sit right on the cement and stay there for hours!  The sunsets here are gorgeous! To paint you a picture this is how it works.. On a beautiful day like today I'll get done at work a little after 10pm and start walking to pick up my husband.  On the way I have to stop because the whole sky is lit up with colors!  It is so beautiful that I literally have to stop and take it in for a while.  The sunsets also last a lot longer than any sunsets I've ever seen.  They could easily last an hour.  Here are just a few pictures of one sunset we saw the other day at the Shrine of St. Therese...

I just love this picture of my husband! I am the luckiest girl alive to have such a sweetheart as my eternal companion.  He is the love of my life and I am so very blessed!

...Good thing he doesn't read this or else he'd be pretty embarrassed! Shh it's our little secret *wink wink*

Tracy Arms Tour and BEARS!

About a week ago we were able to go on one of the most popular boat tours here called the Tracy Arms Tour.  We went about 80 miles out of Juneau to the Sawyer and South Sawyer Glaciers.

We also saw tons of wildlife...

And this little cuddly friend.... This is one of may bears that we've seen already.  He was the first.  The second my husband saw cross the road right in front of where we work and didn't want me to be scared... So... I, unknowingly, walked with him home from work just minutes after he saw it... He didn't tell me until the next day! Oh brother! He didn't want me to be scared... There goes my morning runs without him... Don't want to get gobbled up!  And our third and fourth bears were seen outside the window of... any guesses?.. Relief Society and Elder's Quorum! Before we knew it the whole ward was out of their classes taking pictures of the big black bear and little brown one outside... Only in Juneau.

The glaciers break off at this time of year and we were able to witness many big chunks crash into the water.  The biggest one we saw was at the South Sawyer Glacier and it was about the size of a house that fell off! Yeah it made a big splash! Sounded like thunder!

We've spent our last few days biking the town, we've biked to the Glacier and a few grocery stores.  We even found a cute little chair at a thrift store.  A nice man in our ward let us borrow his bikes and we have loved them.
